Cost for a 15'x15' tent is $250.00 (tables, $20.00 each, and chairs, $5.00 each, are also available). Space and equipment are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Deadline to reserve a tent is September 16, 2011. Please submit reservation or inquiries direct to info(koko)guamkokoroadrace.com.

Weather Conditions

Precautions should be taken against heat and humidity. Proper hydration and nutrition prior to the race is extremely important as the temperatures in Guam will likely be in the high 80s with humidity in the 80 to high 90 percent range. A long distance event with these conditions can be dangerous for those who are insufficiently prepared. If this is your first time participating in a running event of this length in a warm and humid climate, take fluids at each aid station.

Race Rules and Course Instructions

  • Timing device must be securely fastened to your race bib, shoelace, or clothing. Failure to do so will result in inaccurate or missing result time.
  • Race numbers must be worn on the front of each runner and clearly visible at all times. Race numbers are not transferable. Failure to comply with this rule will result in disqualification. Race numbers and timing devices cannot be picked up on race day. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • No In-line skates, strollers, pets, bicycles, headphones, earbuds or personal music devices are allowed on the race course.
  • Runners are urged to stay within the clearly marked race course for safety. Please allow reasonable clearance for runners approaching from the opposite direction.
  • Runners MUST pass through the timing frames at the START and FINISH lines along the race course in order to record time of completion. Failure to do so may result in no record of completion and possible disqualification.
  • Water and electrolyte-enhanced sports beverages will be available at each of the eight Aid/Hydration Stations.
  • All runners must reach the turnaround point in no more than two hours and must complete the race within four hours. The race course will be opened to vehicular traffic promptly at 9:00 a.m.
  • Once you have crossed the Finish Line, you will be directed by a race official to proceed away from the Finish Line. For the safety of all runners, the Finish Line must be kept clear. Be courteous and make room for all approaching runners.
  • Runners without an official race number may not cross the Finish Line.

Ekiden Relay Instructions

  • All Ekiden Relay runners must wear the official tasuki or sash on each leg of the relay.
  • Ekiden Relay runner “A” will start with their tasuki or sash and pass it on to Ekiden Relay runner “B” at the pre-determined exchange point. Ekiden Relay runner “B’ will then pass their tasuki or sash on to Ekiden Relay runner “C” at the second pre-determined exchange point. This process is then repeated until the tasuki or sash is received by the final Ekiden Relay runner “D.” The final runner MUST wear the tasuki or sash until he or she crosses the Finish Line. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
  • Do not forget to bring your team tasuki or sash on race day. Ekiden Relay tasuki or sash will not be re-issued on race day.
  • All Ekiden Relay runners MUST wear their tasuki or sash when they pass through the timing frame BEFORE handing their tasuki or sash to their teammate. The tasuki or sash MUST be passed to the next runner within the 20-meter exchange zone after passing through the timing frame. Failure of any Ekiden Relay team member to cross through the timing frame and pass on the tasuki or sash within the 20-meter exchange zone may result in team disqualification.
  • All exchange points are designed to provide a seamless route in and out of the timing frame and through the tasuki or sash exchange zone.
